Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a good faith estimate of expected charges.
What Is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers are required to give patients who don't have insurance — or who are not using insurance — an estimate of the expected charges for medical items and services. This is called a Good Faith Estimate (GFE).
Who Receives a GFE
- Patients who are uninsured (self-pay)
- Patients who choose not to use their insurance
- You may request a GFE at any time
What the GFE Includes
- Expected cost of your procedure
- Related items and services
- Items and services reasonably expected to be provided
- The GFE is not a final bill
Dispute Resolution
- If your bill is $400+ more than the GFE, you can dispute it
- Contact us first to resolve billing questions
- You can use the patient-provider dispute resolution process at cms.gov
